About Matteson, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Located in Cook and Will Counties, Matteson is an Illinois village with a population that is quickly approaching 20,000 residents. This community was originally founded in the mid-1800s, and it was incorporated in 1889. Matteson is bordered by several neighboring villages, including Frankfort, Tinley Park, Country Club Hills, and Olympia Fields. The village previously served as a major regional shopping center of Chicago’s Southland, but the famous Lincoln Mall that was located here recently closed due to an economic decline.
Despite its modest size, Matteson is home to several attractions that may interest both visitors and residents. Families with young children may enjoy an afternoon at Chuck E. Cheese’s for pizza, games, and activities, and the Jump N’ Jam Playland is another great destination for family fun. Outdoor recreation is especially popular in Matteson, with Old Plan Road Prairie Nature Preserve, Memorial Park, and Woodgate Park all being located in this community. History buffs may also enjoy a trip to Matteston with a visit to the Matteson Historical Museum.
Matteson residents should carefully consider the climate control needs of their homes. Winters in Matteson are cold with frequent snowfall, with average highs in January falling below the freezing point. Without proper preparation, these weather conditions could be extremely dangerous, and an efficient furnace or heat pump is mandatory to keep pipes from freezing and interior temperatures warm.
Spring and autumn months in Matteson are quite pleasant and comfortable, although rainy at times. However, dangerous weather conditions can strike again in the summer. Several days per year witness temperatures exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and with moderately high humidity, conditions can feel even hotter. Matteson residents will need to stay well-hydrated during these hot conditions and ensure that they have a safe place to live that is cooled off with an air conditioning unit.
